Spill’s mission is to reduce unnecessary emotional pain by making high quality mental health support easily accessible for people around the world. We have already achieved a lot, we recently delivered our 100,000th therapy session that was free for the person who accessed it, but still have so much more to do.
On the company itself, we operate with an intentionally small HQ team (currently 6 full time employees, 2 are engineers), and we work in-person together in Shoreditch, London.
Right now, we are all focused on increasing the amount of money that goes towards funding talk therapy for people who need support. We offer a product for businesses that lets employees book in next-day therapy sessions. That product has been bought by over 500 companies and used by over 30,000 employees so far.
We could go on, but our company handbook is public, so you can read that here to get a fuller sense of the company’s mission, strategy and ways of working.
The primary purpose of this role is to develop software that either enables Spill to work with more companies, or lowers the cost of providing Spill. You will fulfil that role by working within a cross-functional team to develop new features and functionality for our product.
In terms of where you'll be spending your time, around 60% of your working day will be “traditional” full-stack engineering tasks like coding features and writing tests. The remaining 40% will involve work like product planning, ideating about solutions, understanding user context, collaborating with stakeholders across the business, and measuring the impact of your work.
You’ll usually work as part of a cross-functional product and engineering team, but you will also spend time driving projects forward on your own.
