We’re still at the start of our journey at Spill and the project’s success is far from guaranteed. So we don’t want to lie to you, working at Spill requires more from you than than most jobs. It’s going to be stressful at times, you’ll probably think about your work outside work, and when you are working, you’re going to be outside of your comfort zone and using your creative energy.

The upside is that the outcomes of your work will be more people accessing high quality mental health support free at the point of use. We are not in the business of burning people out though, so we offer generous support and time off to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to rest and unwind.

Your working hours

Employees at Spill HQ are contracted to work 9.30 am - 6.30 pm (there is flexibility on start/finish times - see section on flexibility below). You’re expected to be really serious about your work during those hours.

Sometimes you’ll work late to push a project forward or follow a spark of inspiration but outside of those hours you won’t be expected to stay connected 24/7.

Holiday

In order to counterbalance the fact that the work at Spill is hard, Spill offers more holiday days than most other companies.

You get 30 days of holiday to use each year, a day off for your birthday, 3 free company days off over Xmas and bank holidays off as usual. Your manager may also gift you additional holiday days if they feel like you could benefit from more time off after a period of more intense work.

We want everyone to use their full holiday allowance each year and truly switch off. No need to check emails or log into our systems while you’re taking a well-deserved break.

To sum up Spill’s working culture: Work hard play hard, and take lots of holiday!

Where you’ll work

While we’re still small and working out what we’re building in different markets, everyone works from the office at least 4 days per week.

We want to optimise for people getting unblocked quickly and different teams hearing what’s going on across the business.

Once we're big and stable enough that everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing all the time, we can revisit this. But right now, serendipitous conversations and low barriers to communication are a competitive advantage.

Flexibility

We understand that some people work better in the mornings or in the evenings or you might have external responsibilities on different days of the week. Because of this, we give you flexibility to start/finish later so long as it suits the rest of the team.
