At Spill, we’re for people leaving when the time is right. This isn’t a family or a cult - you should be able to leave when you want to. If Spill isn’t able to give you what you need from your work or your career, it’s in your interest for you to be able to go and find that as soon as you can. Life is short after all.

Voluntary departure

To make it as easy as possible for you to change jobs when you want to, we make the notice period as short as possible. If you want to leave Spill, your notice period can be just one week if you’ve worked at Spill for less than two years, and the equivalent number of weeks as you’ve worked for Spill in years if you’re leaving after two years.

Involuntary departure

If we ask you to leave Spill, it’s either because your manager didn’t feel that you were fulfilling the duties of your role or because the company's needs have changed and the role can no longer be justified in the business.

If you are asked to leave for performance reasons or because your role is being made redundant, we will likely offer to pay you two months of your base salary in addition to your notice period as severance (this is reduced to 1 month if it’s during your probation) in order to give you time and security to find your next role or career move. (It’s worth noting that we wouldn’t do this in the case where we ask people to leave for misconduct: eg theft, harassment, insubordination, confidentiality breaches, etc. Thankfully, we haven’t had a case of this ever (over 7 years), but it’s worth stating just in case.)
